The “Fan Favorite” bowl at Bibibop (Hepokoski/LION).

I’m always looking for a fast and healthy food option. When I found out that a new location of Bibibop, an Asian grill, opened nearby, I immediately wanted to try it out. The location opened in Willowbrook in November 2023, but Bibipop has been around since 2013. Overall, I really enjoyed the food.

I went to the restaurant with two friends. When we first arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to see how clean it was. All the tables were clean as well as the floor. The inside had a very modern-day look with ample seating. Even though there were a lot of people when we were there, it didn’t feel crowded.

The ordering process was very similar to Chipotle. You could either pick a bowl or create your own from a variety of bases, hot toppings, cold toppings, and protein. The prices range from $9-13.

I chose The Fan Favorite (10.99) which is one of the preselected bowls provided on the menu  sweet potato noodles, purple rice, chicken, broccoli, potatoes, carrots, cheese, corn, and Yum Yum sauce. The worker quickly made my bowl and it was good quality.

The noodles were sweet and sauteed in a very flavorful sauce, as was the chicken. The chicken  was also tender and easy to eat. The Yum Yum sauce was very savory and tasted like mayo with more flavoring. The broccoli and potatoes were cooked and warm, as were the noodles, and rice. The cheese, corn, and carrots were served cold and added good texture and taste to the bowl. The bowl had many different flavors but they all went together well.

I also got the passion fruit lemonade, which had hints of sweet and sour, which I really enjoyed.

Sweet potato noodles was something I have never tried before however, and they lacked the sweet potato flavor that I wish it had. Still, I enjoyed that Bibibop offered new food options I hadn’t heard of.

Bibibop also offers cookies, Tru Fru fruits, and Kombucha, all which I think would make your meal even better. Bibibop also includes vegetarian options, served with tofu, and the restaurant is entirely gluten free.

A downside to my experience would be that the menu was a little difficult to read. There were only three suggested bowls, which was a little upsetting since it was my first time there and I wasn’t sure what to get. However, I quickly learned that most people choose to build their own bowl.

I highly recommend this Asian grill and I will definitely be going back. Bibipop is located at 7137 Kingery Hwy., Willowbrook, and is open seven days a week. Monday-Thursday it is open 10:30a.m.-9:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday it is open until 10 p.m., and on Sunday it is open until 8 p.m. .
