Over the past two years, SC has undergone construction for a new cafeteria, commons, and music spaces. It opened to all students on Nov. 20. This was a $33 million project, which included an entirely new cafeteria wing and moving the music wing to the old cafeteria spaces, which were also newly renovated. After a long and tedious process, it is finally ready for all students to enjoy. 

“This process began three years ago when we asked our school community what their needs were,” Superintendent Brian Waterman said. “Since then, it has been a continuous feedback loop, planning process, and construction effort, but we couldn’t be more excited to showcase this space to our community.”

An open house will take place Dec. 2 from 5-8 p.m. and will include a celebration, student and staff presentations, gift giveaways, as well as food samples from the lunch menu. 

“We are excited for our students, staff, and community to experience this new space,” Waterman said. “This will truly be a community space that will be used for student lunches, but also for clubs, activities, athletic meetings, and community events.”

Along with the cafeteria, for the first time at LT, there is a new cafe that is open not only during lunch but before school at 7 and after school from 3:05-4:15 . It has a variety of different coffee flavors and syrups, smoothies, snacks, and more. 

“The new cafeteria is a lot more spacious with way more food options,” Abbey O’Toole ‘29 said. “It’s also really convenient to have a hallway that connects to B-wing now.”
