Each year, Lyons Township Hockey Club (LTHC) alumni come together at their former home rink, Willowbrook Ice Arena, to engage in a match against one another. This year, the match took place Dec. 21, 2025, and, as serious as it is, it’s mainly a playful way for old teammates to reconnect after graduating, former varsity defensive player Anthony Panzeca ‘24 said.
“I had a great time out there with everyone today,” Panzeca said. “It was really nice to be back together with everyone after not seeing them for so long. It was fun to feel like we were all still on the same team again.”
The alumni game is run by the LTHC and the Parent Association. Many family members attended the game, along with current varsity hockey players playing with the club team. Each year it gets more competitive, Panzeca said. It is always fairly matched with athletes showing good sportsmanship.
“I think the alumni game is really great for the community because it gives you something to look forward to,” Panzeca said. “It shows you that just because you graduate, it doesn’t mean it’s the end, the club is really good at keeping the old players active.”
The game ended in a 9-6 score, with Team White as the victor.
