Salerno’s acquired a site at 821 Burlington Ave. in Western Springs where Mécénat Bistro is currently located, and the owner Robert Salerno plans to open there a version of Salerno’s in the spring.

The restaurant is in the process of applying for building permits and aims to be open by April 1, Salerno said. The pizzeria will have an upscale casual feel and will have a similar look to Salerno’s restaurant Evviva! Bar and Eatery, an annexed version of Salerno’s Pizza, in downtown Lisle.

“I think the demographics will work very well with what we offer,” Salerno said. “I’m a big supporter of all communities I do business in and I look forward to working with the town and community.”

With the opening of Salerno’s, the American-eclectic style restaurant Mécénat Bistro will permanently close. Mécénat Bistro owner Jack Hogan cites lack of business as one of the factors contributing to the closure.

“[Mécénat] was not making ends meet,” Hogan said. “I think with Salerno’s reputation and catering and carry out business, we can make it better.”

Hogan will also serve as the manager for this particular Salerno’s location once the pizzeria opens.

“It was a pleasure to serve people as the owner [of Mécénat],” Hogan said. “I look forward to my new venture as manager and look to have a great opportunity to continue to be friends and serve my customers.”

In a community that lacks sit-down restaurants compared to neighboring areas, many residents are excited at the prospect of a new restaurant.

“I’m excited for [Salerno’s],” Maeve Swinehart ‘17 said. “It will be nice to be able to get some pizza without having to go to La Grange or Hinsdale.”
