Teachers watch the school board meeting on Nov. 16.

Grace DeKoker, Editor-in-Chief

As of the Nov. 19 Board of Education meeting, negotiations for a new contract for LT teaching staff were still in progress. There have been two closed meetings since then, where both the School Board as well as the Lyons Township Education Association had their negotiating parties present and discussion took place. According to an email sent out to members of the LTEA earlier today, at the second negotiations meeting on Dec. 12, the two parties reached a tentative agreement.

While a tentative contract has been agreed upon by the two negotiating parties, that does not mean that the actual contract is finalized or will immediately go into effect. The teachers will meet and review the proposed contract Dec. 18, and voting will take place on Dec. 21, according to the email sent to the LTEA. All dates are subject to fluctuate, however, and there is no guarantee that the tentative contract will go through.

This is a developing story. The LION will continue to post updates to this story as they become available. For more information, read a previous story on the contract negations from our print issue.
