North Campus was evacuated today at approximately 8:10 a.m. due to an alleged fire. Students remained outside for about 20 minutes before returning to class. Administrators were unable to comment as they are still investigating the cause of the disturbance.

According to the LTHS website, the evacuation was caused by a pulled alarm without “fire or emergency.” Yet multiple students have reported that the first floor hallway near the foods and nutrition rooms was smoky following their return to the building.

The majority of the students taking the AP English and Composition test were placed in the Vaughan Building across the street from the main campus, so they were undisturbed by the evacuation.

It remains to be seen whether students taking the test in other rooms were affected. Liam Purcell ‘15 expressed concern for his peers, noting that this sort of delay could cause tremendous inconvenience for those taking the standardized assessment.

“I was really upset for the people taking the AP test,” Purcell said.
