To continue to commemorate Kelli O’Laughlin’s impact on the LT community, the O’Laughlin family along with friends, have again put together the annual Kelli Joy 5K run/walk on Sunday, Nov. 16. The races kick off at 9 a.m. at LT’s SC backfields and include 3K and 5K runs and walks.

“The O’Laughlins are trying to encourage people to form teams to run, especially teams of seniors in Kelli’s class of 2015,” Lynn Petrak, the head of public relations for the O’Laughlin family said.

Registration for the five mile run is $30 and $25 for the one mile walk and can be found at http://bit.ly/RunforKelli.

“It’s been a great event over the past two years, because individuals and families of all ages from around the community have turned out to run and walk for a good cause,” father John O’Laughlin said in a press release. “We also attract a lot of people from the Chicago area running community, because the course is the same one that the school’s cross country team uses.”

In addition to the races, a raffle will be held for the people who donate or race. Prizes include Blackhawk tickets, park-hopper passes to Walt Disney World and much more.

Last year more than 900 runners, joggers and walkers participates in the 2013 Kelli Joy 5K with many more donating and cheering them on.
