After an almost two year long pandemic, the 2021-2022 school year has been a tough time for the students and staff at LT. However, the teachers and staff members have done a great job of persevering through, despite the unfortunate circumstances they were forced to face. 

After minimal human contact for such a long time, coming back to in-person learning was a learning curve for teachers. Their resilience in overcoming the social boundaries that came with being away from school for so long has shown their ability to understand and teach regardless of difficulties. 

Now, it’s harder to fully connect with students because of the masks and social distancing put in place at LT. Not knowing your student’s full face or really being able to see students’ facial expressions has caused a strain in the relationship between staff and students.
Regardless of this, teachers this school year have tried their best to overcome these boundaries and get to know their students to the best of their abilities. Teachers have made an effort to ask students about their days and make sure they are doing OK.   

Teaching through the uprising of the new COVID-19 Omicron variant this year has also been a very scary time for teachers and staff, especially at a school with such a large population of students where the disease is easily transmissible. Specifically, for older teachers who could possibly have health issues, teaching at school every day is a big risk. However, it is one that they are willing to take for the education of their students. Teaching on top of personal issues, such as their own family members getting sick or even themselves getting sick, is an incredibly selfless and brave thing to do.

A special thank you to the nurses at our school, who have taken the risk to work directly with students who might be infected with COVID-19, and have worked especially hard to keep everyone in the LT community healthy. 

Overall, the teachers, administrators and staff at LT have done an amazing job this school year of working to keep us safe, and teach through all the difficulties that have been thrown at them.
