Peppy Primary performs under lights

The LT Poms performers take the illuminated Bennett Field at 6:30 on Sept. 4 with their smaller halves. It is once again Peppy Primary, a chance for girls aged six to twelve to perform in front of a packed crowd and smile until their cheeks hurt.

This year, the girls performed to a flashy choreographed  dance with the song, “I Don’t Like it, I Love it.”

“I get so excited to be in front of lots of people,” Peppy Primary performer Meredyth Krupowicz said. “My coach is always cheering me on and makes me proud.”

All Poms members are allowed to help with routine, said Poms member Moira McDermott ’16. The average rundown of the night of the performance includes reviewing the dance that was previously taught a few weeks before, performing and then a pizza party with all the girls, including the Poms team.

“Teaching each girl and interacting with them is always the biggest thing I’ve gotten out of it,” Poms member Hope Walsh ’17.  “It’s so cute seeing their faces and how excited they get to be out on the field.”

Parents of the young girls pack the stands among football, marching band and cheer parents to enjoy the show of their children.

“Each girl is able to come out of their shell a little bit during the dance,” Meredyth’s mother, Cat Krupowicz said. “The Poms girls do so well with the younger girls and you can tell they care.”
