A restaurant that has been established in Brookfield, already known and loved by many, has just opened its doors. Bill’s Place Express, located at 8819 Ogden Ave., Brookfield, is a walk-up/drive-through where consumers can get freshly made food in minutes.
Right off the busy road, I parked and walked into the small building. There is little to no room to walk around, so I imagine on busy days it can get quite crowded. I went to look at the menu and was greeted by one of the workers who encouraged me to take my time before ordering. I placed my order and waited a mere four minutes to receive my food.
The atmosphere of the building was very pleasant. The freshly painted bricks and the bright colors were eye-catching and intrigued many onlookers as they drove past. The inside was clean and smelled of freshly cooked food being made.
The menu had a large selection of options, all for very affordable prices. I bought the Hot Dog, Fresh Cut Fries, Gyro, and the Chocolate Milkshake.
The Hot Dog with fries ($5.99) was topped with mustard, relish, onions, tomatoes, pickles, sport pickles, and celery salt: a typical Chicago hot dog that combines sweet, savory, spicy, and salty all in one bite. The bun was slightly flimsy and had trouble holding up all the toppings. However, the taste made up for it with a flavorful kick in each bite, without feeling greasy or overwhelming. The fries were a great addition to the hot dog. They give a large portion for only being a side. These are some of the freshest fries I’ve had. Although slightly soggy, the taste is irresistible. The slightly sweet and salty mixture made me want more. If you are feeling like having a classic Chicago meal, then a hot dog from Bill’s Place Express is the place to go.
The next thing I tried was the Gyro ($9.45), which comes with gyro sauce, onions, and tomatoes served in a pita. The creamy, sweet taste of the gyro sauce (tzatziki) mixed with gyro meat made for the perfect combination of sweet and savory. The meat itself was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, making it melt in your mouth with each bite. I personally could have done without the onions; they seemed to overwhelm the sandwich at times.
The last thing I had was the Chocolate Milkshake ($4.99) topped with whipped cream. This creamy milkshake was packed with the perfect amount of chocolate. It was definitely a favorite of mine. I would recommend trying their milkshakes if you give this place a try.
Overall, I had a really great experience here, and I could definitely see myself going back in the future. If you’re looking for a quick and delicious meal, Bill’s Place Express is the place for you.
They are open seven days a week from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
