Downtown La Grange is filled with many ice cream and dessert places such as Crumbl, Coldstone, and Forever Yogurt. Recently, however, a new Mexican ice cream and dessert place opened up: La Michoacana Azteca.
I highly recommend trying La Michoacana Azteca if you want a fun experience along with great food. It is a bit of a different vibe than all the other ice cream places but in a very exceptional way.
When you first walk into the shop, you are greeted with a fun, colorful scene and music. The counter stretches very far back, and you can view all their different ice cream options. They have TVs displaying the menu and colourful booths to sit in. In addition to the fun environment, the staff and workers were super nice and helpful. They even helped me choose which desserts to get.
The menu seemed never-ending with so many different options to choose from. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw all the options they had. There was everything from Mexican snacks to all kinds of desserts. They had sabritas, chicharrones, dorilocos, and other snacks. For desserts, they had ice cream, Bionico’s, milkshakes, and more.
I ordered a chocolate milkshake ($8.50), a rainbow sprinkled choco banana ($3.75), and one scoop of Kinder Bueno ice cream on a waffle cone ($6). My total came up to $21.60 with tax. After about 10 minutes of waiting, all my food was ready.
First off, the chocolate milkshake was delicious. I chose the chocolate flavor, but you can use any one of the store’s ice cream flavors. My chocolate milkshake was presented with chocolate sauce lining the cup, whipped cream on top, and a cookie straw. The chocolate flavor was rich and creamy, and the whipped cream was the perfect touch. Overall, I really enjoyed this milkshake because it was so flavorful and sweet. I would definitely get this milkshake again and try other flavors as well.
The choco banana was a frozen banana dipped in chocolate and decorated with rainbow sprinkles. I really enjoyed this because the mix of banana and chocolate went very well together. However, I don’t think I would purchase this again because it was a bit basic.
Finally, the Kinder Bueno Ice Cream was amazing. I was very delighted when I tried this. It tasted like a Kinder egg but also ice cream at the same time. The texture was the perfect ice cream consistency. Each bite had the right proportion of ice cream and Kinder Bueno chunks. This was my favorite thing that I tried. La Michoacana Azteca is one of the only places with this many options of ice cream flavors that are all delicious.
I highly recommend giving this store a try. It has so many amazing, unique flavors that you cannot get anywhere else in La Grange. La Michoacana Azteca is located at 15 La Grange Road.
